Specifications of the following C5II H3+ and Xantia non-hydralic (estate, diesel) spheres

Post by wbgenetic »

Hello folks,

I keep digging but fail to find all characteristics:

1. Volume
2. Pressure
3. Hole diameter

Of the following spheres:

Citroen C5II diesel, estate H3+:
  • Standard front side : C 552 FH
  • Comfort front side : C5 COMF FH
  • Front middle (standard): C 562 FQ
  • Front middle (comfort) : C 562 FR
-
  • Standard rear side: C 544 RH
  • Comfort rear side: C5B COMF RH
  • Rear middle: C 544 RQ
Xantia, estate, diesel non-hydractive:
  • Standard front side : XA 55 FC
  • Comfort front side : XA VL COMF HL
-
  • Standard rear side : XA 40 RD
  • Comfort rear side: XA HA COMF HL
I would also appreciate if you direct me to a website that has this info and I can find it myself.

Thanks a lot in advance,
V.

This is for the Mark II C5 - I do not have hole diameter info - but see the note at the bottom concerning dampers on C5s.

Hi Marc,

yes - this does show some specifications - but I cannot see for example the difference between comfort vs regular spheres like this ...
Is it pressure or is it the damper hole ... or is it volume ... or all 3 ...

Remember the systems are COMPLETELY different between the C5 and the Xantia - so you are not comparing the same thing. The systems are also different between the Hydractive 3 and 3+. They were never designed for comfort spheres to be honest and I would never fit them to a Hydractive 3 / 3+ vehicle. The Hydraulic Interface (BHI) handles a lot of the functionality in terms of the pressure, ride height and mode switching / laws, including the anti sink functions.

If you start changing these spheres out - for non standard versions, expect major problems with the car grounding over dips and humpbacks and you'll probably lose some functionality of the system overall.

This is peculiar, I thought that the comfort spheres were sort of standard items ... :(
Ah well ..

** The Xantia and C5 are different. This is understood. For testing purposes only. Not for daily driver. I was just interested in comparing the models ...

There have never been any official ‘comfort’ spheres. They were modified by several places that generally recharged the green spheres for people back in the early GS, CX days, and they started experimenting by changing the pressures and diameters if the the holes on these who wanted a more floaty ride of the older days.

I only ever had these on my early non-hydractive XM where the ride was particularly hard and that helped, but the next XMs were the later type and I never needed them changing. I certainly wouldn’t now with the C5 vehicles.
