Economy mode

Post by waynedance »

Is there away to switch off this feature?

Sometimes sit in the car using the radio to watch videos over Bluetooth and the economy mode kicks in after so long.

If no way to switch it off would it hurt to add another wire direct to a permanent live and have it on 2 way switch. Switch between the normal ignition and permanent live, any problems foreseen here.

Its bloody annoying, isn't it! I think the question's being asked before re disabling it, and the answer is a resounding 'no' unfortunately. My wife has a Doblo van, '57 plate.....after around 15 mins sitting with the radio on and the engine off, the radio switches off.....but you can switch it back on again. So, no chance of leaving it on all night! That seems a much simpler, and just as effective, way of preventing a flat battery. But I assume there's a good reason for Citroen's overly-complicated method of achieving the same thing! :-D

Don't know if you can turn it off, but you can adjust the timeout before economy mode becomes active, using lexia.

BTW, it may be annoying, but also (given the problems that can occur on a c5 if the battery goes flat) a very good fail-safe measure!

It's so bloody annoying that I'm looking for a small form standalone radio that I can run off a direct connection to the battery. The type that would fit in best would have a separateable front panel and I can bung the guts somewhere else.

The trouble is that as well as VHF I want it to also have MW and LW reception. LW is important to me for my travels through France.

You can't change it on later cars - and how long it takes to trigger is related to how long the engine has run in the previous cycle. It seems to come in quicker if the battery is not so good.

I fitted a high-Ah, high CCA battery in December.....it made no difference to the time taken for 'economy mode' to kick in, which seems to be around 15 mins whether I've been driving for an hour or 5 minutes. :?

Luxury! More like 5 minutes in my car.

Hard time based function on my 01. Set to 30mins atm (what it was when I bought it).

If you can't adjust it on later models (is 03really that much later?!) then it's just another very odd example of them removing functionality (e.g. remote window open) and adjustable parameters for no seemingly good reason!

Managed to change the setting today from 30 to 120 minutes with a Lexia.

Not tried it but I do not see why it has not worked.
Thanks for help.

Ps is it just me or is Tapatalk not working on this forum?

Is that a permanent thing with Tapatalk? So much easier to use and add photos.

What do you mean security reasons?
