Would someone be kind enough to have a look at Citroen Service and see if they can give me numbers & diagrams for my 2.0i fuel tank and bits.
It seems my tank locking ring is not all it should be and having changed the mini board in the instrument cluster my mechanic now wants to change the sender unit.
Would be nice to see what we're talking about and at the same time gathering opinions on what we should be checking/changing next...................

15 is part of 06, available as a kit (because that's often what fails).
09 is the plastic 'bung' in the floor under the rear seat, carefully prise it out and you're looking at the tank unit (06) in the top of the fuel tank.
The Ring (07) needs to be treated with care - as with all plastic parts, they become brittle with age and heat. The ribs and indeed the whole ring are easily broken by rough attempts to un-screw the ring. The best way to remove it is to first lubricate the inside of the ring, give the freeing oil time to penetrate into the joint between it and and then very gently tap each rib in turn with a piece of wood until it moves. Do not use any tool which squashes the ring, this makes the thread bind and will probably break the ring.

I think the ring (07) is what I'm looking for - because although my mechanic is not saying so I think that's what has happened to it - any ideas where I can find one, from a supplier who will post either to my forwarder in UK, or direct to me in Thailand please? Sadly too late to follow your advice on this one!
Is it possible to get sender alone or are they only available as one unit?

If you wish to use the car before it arrives, do not fill the tank more than 3/4.....I lubricate the ring threads and seal with petroleum jelly before I replace the sender....
