I'm afraid Madame Syn has now departed and been replaced by an 04 C5 Exclusive estate 2.2 hdi auto which we collected from Derby today. The drive home was a very relaxed affair cruising at a leisurely 55-60mph. However there is one minor concern, the door mirrors no longer adjust or fold. When we test drove the car last week they were perfect. It had to have some work done for the mot and I'm wondering if the battery was disconnected. Could this be a possibility that a bsi reset might fix?

I wonder if cleaning the driver door switches would help here? You can (using the Lexia) test the switches, and they are not difficult to remove and clean (took me less than half an hour, first time I did one). Nice looking C5, by the way.

Thanks James, I assume they flick out with a small screwdriver? It's just odd they were perfect last week but totally dead today. Luckily I could still see through them as they were but half the view is taken up by the side of the car. Everything else seemed fine.

The whole assembly is held in place by 6 flexible clips (three per side), so should lift out reasonably easily. There are two plugs (one with 3 wires, the other with 6) that are of the same design, that latch into place. Once you have unplugged them, you will see (on the underside) there are 9 clips holding the bottom cover in place (be careful, they look fragile). Once you have got the bottom cover off you can lift out the circuit board and membrane to clean with proper contact cleaner.
Saying all this, a BSI reset could well resolve the issue, if the battery was simply disconnected.

Silver? Silver! It's not silver it's gold!
Actually I'm quite pleased with it so far, hopefully the mirrors will be something silly and there's one or two minor blemishes on the body but generally it's good.

We spend a few weeks a year in Llandudno and it used to live just down the road.

If I have the tailgate open I find the echo lasts for seconds on my C5 estate!
