2010 C5 poor starting

Unread post by C5owner »

Hi all,
I have a 2010 C5 VTR+nav 2.0 hdi 160.
It has just developed poor cold starting, the glow plugs have been replaced with oe ones from main agent, however the poor/non start issue has continued.
On inspection by local garage it appears that fuel is being drawn back to the tank.
Consequently the fuel filter was replaced along with new seal, as were seals on pressure regulator as this appeared to be damp also. All was fine for 24 hours until starting this morning and same thing.
Got it going with a v quick spurt of easy start, any ideas ? (Fuel had also drained back so was hand primed again)

Is the starter motor turning at the required speed. I bought a new C5 in 2005 and after three years it began to be a reluctant cold starter. The dealer diagnosed that the starter wasn't turning sufficiently fast enough to raise the fuel pressure

Good point, JohnD. I believe that the Injection ECU won't send fuel to the injectors if the RPM is below 800. My C5 started to take a few seconds before it would fire up. I replaced the starter motor with a reconditioned one from GSF (cost about £120, but I got back around £55 when I returned the old one in the packaging the recon had come in), and the engine then turned over so quickly I half expected the car would turn over as well! :D

So apparently the videos weren't on here. Here's the before and after, the temperatures were similarly cold and the battery is new.

I had the same and mine has the same engine. Very slow starting and I replaced the starter motor and it's been starting on the first turn of the key. We had the same problem on our 206 2.0hdi dturbo and fitting a new starter motor fixed it.

Update,
After replacing the Starter, Airflow meter, Fuel filter and housing, then battery. The fault was actually a leaking injector. Since then the car seems to be eating injector clamps..
