Citroen C5 P0500 Vehicle speed signal fault : Value received incorrect

Unread post by northface »

Hi,

Got a P0500 Vehicle speed signal fault : Value received incorrect from Lexia. It sets the MIL light and gives a "Depollution system faulty" message.

What causes this? The speedometer works fine. Where does the ECU take this signal from? I can't find any sensor on the gearbox.

All info and ideas appreciated!

IIRC it comes from the ABS circuit.

OK. I've recently replaced a front wheel bearing. Maybe something went wrong there..

Yes, possible damage to the ABS sensor or wiring or even (less probable) the reluctor ring.

Agree with myglaren! Also when you fitted the wheel bearing did you fit it the correct way round with the magnetic pickup on the inside

OK. I put the black side on the bearing facing inwards. (I hope..)

Yeah black side is pickup hopefully you have put it the sensor side I'd re-check that's correct first! Unless obvious damage to speed sensor or wiring
