Key Barrel

Post by Welshy_Pete »

The key barrel you turn it to the first click fine. The second click gone there no click to full ignition lights. The key will turn but you have to turn it back a bit once it starts or starter will crack.

The barrel warn out?

So I just need to swap key barrel and swap over metal parts of key to my fobs?

how many connectors and pins on my car model?

306 hdi

Thanks

It sounds like it might be the switch that is faulty not the barrel. It looks like they are sold a an assembly, p/n 4162A0

There seem to be some cheap copies around: https://www.amazon.fr/STORM-Neiman-anti ... B00BJ3XCA2 or http://www.ebay.fr/itm/NEIMAN-ANTIVOL-D ... 1648408759 I don't think that the different suffix on the part has much significance in this case.

I've noticed on the 306 models on the barrel there either 2 or 3 wiring connectors meaning 6 pin or 4 pin with 2 in each.

My 306 hdi only has 2 connectors so 4 pins and 4 wires.

So whats the situation with this do I need the matching one or will there be a spare connector not used?

Pictures and links below Thanks

This mine 2 connector in my own car.

These 3 connector type 1993 to 2002

There is also a 2 connector type but says older models 1993 to 1997.

I think there's a phase 3 (MK3) switch as well so its likely the 93 to 02 is just labelled like that badly ?

Interestingly if you look on servicebox at the early ones it shows two types (but these are to order or random) and later ones it does not show anything the page is empty no part number.

I do have more detailed tech data but I can't get at it at the moment to see what is really going on.
Andy.

91 205D-Turbo, gone but still missed
02 106D, TUD5B, gone but not really missed apart from the MPG

I have asked on the 2 big main 306 car forums and struggling to find out the difference to.

It could be label wrong like you said. I'm thinking the 2 connectors as long as both connect in to my 2 it should work more chance then with the spare 3rd connector?

I've just been to the scrap yard today. I can confirm that 2 306 diesel models there was a V reg hdi 1999 it had the 2 connectors and 4 pins. Then I seen the older diesel xud R reg 1997 with 3 connectors and 6 pins.

So I will go for the 2 connectors with 4 pins matching mine now.

The ebay listing for years is wrong.
