Courtesy light door switches?
Where are they located? They aren't visible so must be concealed in the lock mech somewhere. The one on the drivers door has stopped working, the lights work normally off the other doors.

Re: Courtesy light door switches?
On an S2 Xantia they're effectively inside the locking mechanisms in the doors. S1 Xantias retain traditional courtesy light switches...
Normally the integrated switches in the S2 are very reliable... I'd firstly check if the wiring to it is intact. S2 Xantias are notorious for snapping wires in the 'concertina' between door and A Pillar. The driver's door suffers more as it's usually the most frequently used...
If you do need to get at the switch you'll need to remove the central locking mechanism from the door and crack it open by drilling out rivets.. It' not really made to be serviceable

Re: Courtesy light door switches?
At Xantia mk2 the front door mechanism contains two switches, one is for courtesy light and one is for detection if the door is completely closed.
Like CitroJim said you have to drill out a rivet...if I remember correctly is just one rivet.
In the picture below is the mechanism from rear door...it contains only one switch for courtesy light.

Re: Courtesy light door switches?
Damn I was hoping this was about the S1, my drivers door stopped turning the light on and off the other week, passenger door one is looking very tatty too.
Good luck! On my old ZX it had a door open display on the dash and the passenger door always showed as open unless it was raining/very damp. Apparently all that was built into the door lock mechanism so I did the sensible thing and just ignored it!

Re: Courtesy light door switches?
S1 has conventional courtesy light switches Sam
They do suffer the usual problems and they are standard PSA items...

Re: Courtesy light door switches?
Thanks for that image xf1ref. I've wiggled the door pillar to door wiring but no difference. The light works when opened with the remote fob, just not with the door only. So I will need to delve further.

Re: Courtesy light door switches?
I'm guessing that remote fob will bring the unlock/lock motor into operation, while just opening the door will not, as the door handle "by-passes" the motor mechanism. So ??? courtesy light switch fault resides inside the motor unit.HDI wrote: The light works when opened with the remote fob, just not with the door only.
Just guessing.

Re: Courtesy light door switches?
That is more than likely the issue. I have an aversion to removing trim though, so my motivation is low for sorting this!
