207sw fuel filter

Post by pikecrazy »

My Partner has a 1.4 207sw 16v petrol 57 plate she's always running the fuel down and when i drove it the other day it seems to have an intermittent miss as in lack of fuel.

No fault codes so could it be the fuel filter ?

And if so where is the location please.......

Looking at both the TU and VT based engines (As I suspected anyway) they do not appear to have one, not in the sense of one in the pipeline.

This is a bit like later 206 where they deleted the external petrol filter (used to live near the tank area on the offside)

The 'filter' is actually part of the pump / level sender unit in the tank. I'm unsure how much disassembly is needed to extract said filter but its not actually listed as a separate part anyway that I see, its designed to last the life of the car usually.

Having said this on another make I dismantled one completely (it was a royal pain as there were one way valves and springs in it (!)) to clean it out and put it together again.

I think if there was a fuel supply issue though I'd expect a code present. Are you basing this on the 'K' light not being on or did you scan for codes ? :)
Andy.

I'd be tempted to try to have the codes read if you can.

Simply as some faults do not cause the light to come on, two random examples of this (note: these are not your issue here, well very unlikely!) are EGR valve and MAF issues, these do not cause the light to appear unless there's a serious issue like a short in the sensor itself, just providing this as a 'not all causes the light' example.

Are you not able to locate anyone who could scan it for you ? , ideally cheaply or free would be better.
