Xantia - Cleaning the air intake throttle body

Hi

I may to clean the air intake throttle body, is there a safe cleaning solvent that it can be dipped in ? Any precautions ? Of coarse the idle stepper motor , the throttle potentiometer and the air intake temperature sensor will be detached before

"Carb" cleaner. Petrol (if the bits are off) with fine wire wool used with care near the butterfly
