You have the BE3/5 transmission (possibly BE4 but it should be the same) On the front, might have to remove a few bits to see it.

Apart from the release mechanism if it comes from a XUDT it should be the same.

Gearing (I think its the final drive really only but I'm not sure) with a HDi 2.0 box is a bit different and does actually suit the XUDT just fine from what I've heard (not personally verified this) , be aware some 'donors' may have either a cable or hydraulic release mechanism and / or a push / pull type clutch, for the sake of simplicity it would be best to get the same as you have now...

You're welcome. :) Good to know you've got one now.

Yes its not very nice to remove is it :( hmm. Oh well.

I don't know if it was me or not but I found the 306TD ones a right £2"£$"£$ to remove too, (bear in mind its the same as the 406 one with the curious clutch arrangement) but I guess lack of space made it more entertaining.

I think if you remove the nearside lower arm you get a bit more room but I never bothered I just struggled.

when I changed my gearbox, I made the mistake of dropping the subframe and getting it out from underneath, it would have been easier to pull the engine and box out together over the front.

The new box is in (what a *******) we put a new clutch in while we were at it but is there a way of resetting the auto adjust on the cable as the clutch bites just off the floor.
