Re: cx won't start
Crankshaft sensor is the most notorious cause, I can't recall if there is one sensor or two for an '84 Turbo 1. If it is missfiring it might be one of the two coil trigger wires from the ECU -I'd check and clean those first. My go-to guy for this stuff in the past was a chap called Fil Van Delft based near Birmingham but not sure he's on here any more? Another thing to check is the 'big blue' relay for the fuel pump. I've also heard stories of CX ignition switch failing - sometimes aggravated by having too many keys pulling on the key ring. Is the ECU getting power?

Re: cx won't start
Have you checked for fuel pressure at the rail and a spark? kind of need to know which one is absent to have a clue but if there is no engine management light while cranking and one day it worked and the next it did not then i would be looking at the crank sensor as suggested above as a starter.
I take it these are mechanical ignition with EFI? if it is the failed crank sensor would likely stop fueling and you will have a spark.

Re: cx won't start
what you have a length of cable coming from the sensor with a three pin rectangular plug or a square plug striaght onto the srnsor?
It will still be available, you will probably find it was fitted to a whole raft of Citroens of the time, the one i linked may be a generic photo too so its worth checking.

Re: cx won't start
okay, has the inlet hose come off the turbo? the rubber elbow is what I'm tallking about. It is possible air isn't being drawn past the air flow meter and the fuel will be cut off. could just be fould psark plugs not sparking under compression.
