C5 Tourer Tailgate

Post by mooseshaver »

I'm sure my boot used to suck in a bit at the bottom when it closed. It does not seem to be doing that. And the gap on the right is larger than the left.
Should I worry? It could explain why the outside world seems so loud recently.

Sounds like the lock isn't operating, as you mention the boot on mine closes then pull's into the locked/shut position.

You're talking about the motorized tailgate, right?

Yes motorised. I can't manually close it all the way either. It makes the closing noise just no movement.
Not sure what I have done. I can hear it moving up and down over bumps so can't be ignored.

Have you tried using the shaft of a screwdriver on the lock clasp to replicate the ring on the bodyshell to observe whether either the lock actually "locks" or it or the ring are simply out of adjustment?

No.t tried I notice the bit in the car move left/right back/forward if I wiggle it. Sometimes I see it move on its own when it thinks I'm not looking.

check the latch ring on the car isn't loose...mine was doing the same as yours.
you can just about get an angled Torx key in to adjust it

So should it not move or move less? I have seen the torx screws.

it shouldn't move.

i quickly checked mine but by hand seemed tight but obviously the motor puts a lot more effort into it.

Oh thank you ever so much. I tightened the torx and now it's working!
I need to make them very tight but a quick go and it's working
Thanks again

not too sure...mines never become loose again but probably wouldn't go amiss IF you can get the torx bolt out enough and get the nozzle in there?
pretty sure the chrome trim neeeds to be removed which probably means ripping out most of the trim etc so i just did it as easy as i could
