This intercooler.

Post by lexi »

Here is the oily intercooler on Donk again but cleaned up a bit. http://s126.photobucket.com/user/alexbo ... 2.jpg.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

My thinking is still that the seam at plastic and alloy crimp could be suss. If I start her up and get it revving, I suppose it is ok to spray some liquid and look for bubbles? I disconnected the bottom hose at IC and only got one tiny drip of oil from it.

Apparently that pics private. I don't see a problem with using a bit of liquid to hole find, I usually use washing up liquid for that type of thing.

Much better.
Don't know why but couldn't make the last one open any which way.

I'd definitely give it some sort of leak test if you suspect it's blowing.

My first reaction was "A bit of a leak isn't going to make much difference given the volume of air a turbo delivers." Then I remembered the effect of a split pressure sensor pipe (the one to the 'star-ship' sensor on the top of a Bosch pump) - gutless. Seemed worse than the difference between a 1.9 and a 2.1.

I don't think it is impairing economy or performance that much Guy If a new one had been big money, I may have epoxied the old one.
Got a deal on a new one at a good price.

There is still the possibility that turbo seals are less than perfect of course. Going to clean all those hoses out, fit IC and keep an eye on it for any oil collecting.
