Anti-Roll Bar Bushes C5...09

Unread post by Stickyfinger »

OK, a question.

I have to do the rear anti roll bar bushes on my c5 tourer as the warranty does not cover it. The powder coating is breaking up destroying the bushes. (in argument with Citroen as this started at least a year ago and the car has "full service history" main dealer Abingdon, Hartwells. I regard this as long term neglect by them , Hartwells as the problem must of been there for many miles.

So I checked the price of parts just in case I need to do it myself.....

Citroen parts have just told me you cannot get bushes, just the roll bar AND the bushes for £351 plus the dreaded.......do you know better ?

Ouch. Why are they so expensive? Never heard of a car being re-powdered as part of the service though

re-powdered as part of the service

Not that, the fact the coating must of broken down a long time ago when it WAS covered, they just did not say anything at the time because the breakdown in the component coating had not caused to much damage yet....hence my position of "supervised neglect" regarding the service at Hartwell in Abingdon. It is a Citroen Dealer issue not the warranty in my way of thinking.

( The basic point being Powder Coating is NOT a suitable coating to apply bushes on top off, it is not a mechanical surface and this WILL effect every car so fitted)

For the cross-over.....I think maybe 19.5mm without the nasty powder coating applied over it.

BUT

Why only WITH the bar....it makes zero sense to do this....

Doesn't seem to fit your C5 if their compatibility list is up to date.

On another note I got my brake abs fault light twice yesterday ;-) so it seems I will be heading your way

That's the point mate, nothing is listed as Citroen decides the Roll Bar comes free with the replacement bushes for £200 instead of £30 for rubber, nice of them.
I am thinking 19.5mm to take up the missing powder coating but I need to get the shape correct.

handbrake@ maybe later then :)

The one at the top left? Doesn't look very special. Are the drop link ones ok? They seem to be the same colour ;-)

Yep that's the one....(it is not my car in the photo).....my bushes are getting damaged by the black plastic coating on the roll bar and thus is now in sharp bits under the bush....nice
As you say, it does not look that special, we shall see tomorrow when I get under my car.

drop links are fine
