Windscreen wiper hose

Unread post by sandysound »

The windscreen wiper hose on my Xantia II has been severed - How should I repair it or is it easy to replace? It looks like it disappears down towards the wheel arch but then I can't see it anymore :/

Advice please!

You may be able to find a plastic joiner in a garden centre or failing that a piece of metal or plastic tube pushed inside it.

Yes I was thinking of an aquarium hose joiner. Do you think it would handle the pressure?
Or a hose over the top and glued... Thoughts?

Pressure shouldn't be too extreme (use cable ties as hose clips to help!), provided the jets aren't blocked.

Mine kept blowing the hose off where it goes onto the bonnet edge - until I cleaned the jets all out. Has been fine since.

Yep, an aquarium hose connector should do it, or an automatic watering system connector.

the likes of this would do the job

http://www.europaspares.com/mechanical/ ... 4-8mm.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

just warm the ends of the old pipe with a lighter or the likes,

although you dont realy want this type of repair were the pipe is being flexed constantly

fixed mine by sliding the next size up tube over it, overlap by say 2" either side. Did not use glue, has never leaked. Routing is crucial as it should twist rather than bend for a longer life. There is a comment on this by Hell Razor in an earlier post IIRC.

Thanks for hints! The car had an incident at 3:30am last night but this still needs to be done and looks like an easier fix than I originally thought! Will do the bigger hose over the top. Cheers!
