open curcuit parking sensor

Post by boristhespie »

Ok paeking sensors dont work. One was replaced according to dealer receipt that came with car. It also mentions open curcuit on left rear sensor. Can I just replaxe sensor or are we talking about an open wire somewhere/anywhere?
C'est pas possible!

I'd guess that you're in effect quoting the text associated with a fault code. It's anyone's guess as to where the fault lies, but if one sensor was replaced and the parking sensors aren't working at all, it probably isn't a simple replacement because you'd expect a mechanic with half a brain to have tried that when replacing the faulty sensor.

If you know which sensor is showing as having the open circuit then first thing to check would be whether the connector plug on the back is loose or has come off.
You can get at the backs of all sensors without removing the bumpers.

If the ECU has been read recently with a Lexia clone, chances are it's the firmware bug recently reported here, which can apparently be fixed with Peugeot Planet.

Most of the time I find the sensors fail due to water ingress, normally easily spotted by signs of corrosion on the connector & around the sensor pins.
