Part numbers

Post by osx »

Are these the same? Was told that they will need replacing soon.

508752 and 9807130080

Are both parts related to the rear suspension? What part is the gaiter?

Thanks. Having a closer look and it's not very clear. They want 2 x 508752 for the rear suspension and 1 x 9807130080 for the front suspension. From a quick look I was under the impression that both parts were for the rear suspension.

508752 is a front left drop link (Citroen refer to it as a bar link), 508753 would be a right hand one. These drop links go regularly - surprised they're not listed as a service item :-D
9807130080 is a rear drop link - these are not handed so I'd guess it's 2x 9807130080 and 1x 508752 they'll be recommending.

Thanks guys. Ordered both front and rear as I would rather replace all of them in one go. If it is a quick job I might do it myself but wouldn't mind paying £40-50 labour if it is a messy job ;-)

It's a fairly straightforward job to do the fronts - I've done it myself on mine. Apart from the usual array of sockets, spanners, jacks, axle stands, tea, plasters, you'll also need a 5mm Allen key and a T40 Torx bit for the front links - preferably both bits that can be mounted in a ratchet driver..... at least that's what the genuine Citroen drop links use ! The T40 is for holding the long upper part of the drop link steady, and the 5mm allen is for the lower one. When fitting the new links, the nuts should be tightened to: upper one 205Nm and the lower one to 55Nm. It can be a bit of a fiddle to drive out the long portion of the upper part of the link from the suspension, so twisting the rod with the T40 bit and/or a suitable drift and careful use of percussive maintenance may be needed  As for doing up the rears, - 40Nm for top and bottom nuts.
cheers,
Robin

517846 instead of 517852. Are these compatible (look the same) or should I return them?

517846 is, I think, just a Peugeot part number for the same link rod. 517846 and 517852 certainly seem to be listed in various places as interchangeable.
