Robert, is it a 2.0 or a 2.2
where are you based

that fault comes up often and doesn't always mean anything too serious.. it can mean a lot of different things really..

ahh you shouldn't have the FAP filter,,, so that's not the issue..

to be honest my anti pollution fault came on last week.. car went into limp mode.. cleared itself almost straight away..

EGR valve cleaning, EGR relays are possibles,, others will know more,

That will be the particle filter they're talking about. It's situated in the exhaust system approximately under the front seats. The exhaust will need to be lowered then the filter box removed and opened. However unless your C5 is fitted with the 2.2 engine, you won't have one. The 2ltr engines didn't get particle filters until late 2004.

Which engine?
If it is the 2L you won't have a particle filter to worry about.
"Antipollution Fault" can mean a lot of things but is rarely applicable to the DPF. The notification is generally "Diesel Filter Blockage" or similar.

Is the car running as well as usual?*
Do you make lots of short trips so it never gets properly warmed through?
After being restarted half a dozen times and driven for at least ten minutes, does the fault still display?

*If so, hammering it down the motorway for fifty miles is often very beneficial.

Here are some threads dealing with similar issues that may provide some clues as to how to proceed:

This is by no means an exhaustive list but will get you on the right track.
Do come back with any further questions and others will be along before long to add to this.

Mine is running permanently with the engine and service light on but as I rarely drive at over 60 mph or 2000 rpm it doesn't bother me in the least, will still do 60 mpg. I did notice though, the other day I had to drive up a long very steep hill after which the lights went out, so I wonder if its just sooted up.

2ltr engine in the C5 is bomb proof.....or should be unless really badly abused. Heads blowing are rare unless water pump goes/water loss/never topped up...but that's why heads go :), its not normally the head that is at fault

MAF sensor WILL effect the driving of the car as it prevents/retards turbo working correctly. Who is telling you these things ??
