Check the throttle cable for slack. They seem to stretch after a while and need adjusting up to achieve full power. Mine was complete rubbish until that and a few other tweaks were done.
The other thing that might cause it is the MAF, which generally doesn't throw up a fault code.

I presume that you have checked that the air filter is clean?

Thats an interesting one about the MAF sensor on the air cleaner!

I had a new customer C5 car in, and he asked me to change the MAF sensor for one he had supplied.

Two days later he was on the phone, Engine light on, no ooompphhh, Though the car was not in Limp Mode. It just had no go.

Went today, swapped it back to the other one, all restored, better go, no engine light on.

However, would NOT of confirmed that without the Lexia though! So a C5 really needs a lexia to really see whats going on..

Sorry to hijack the post, but i'm having the same sluggish lack of oomph.
I've got a 2002 2.0 HDI SX estate. It accelrates slowly. It drives fine. Until it gets to a hill. And then it struggles massively.
Its soo bad with hills that i often have to drop down into 2nd. Which is not good on the M62.

The accelerator pedal was about 2 inch lower the others, but read on here how to sort that. I tried to take the slack out of the accelerator cable but not sure ive done it right.
Standing at the front of the car, do i need to slide the rubber/plastic cover back towards the cabin or pull towards me?
And does it matter which groove the little clip goes back into?
