Choosing the correct Front Brake Pads

Post by begins » 23 Apr 2013, 14:45

Hi all,

Mine is a used C5 II (Facelift), recently I encountered screeching sound when braking. I thought the brake disc(rotor) could have been worn, so I changed it using the brand new Citroen original brake disc a month ago. For the brake pads, I go with brembo. Here is the nightmare, the car will produce sharp screeching sound when brake especially when I need to brake to a stop at traffic light.

Which aftermarket brake pad do you guys use that will not have screeching sound? I would also like to know which brand is the original brake pad in a C5?

Please help and Thank you very much.

Regards,

Was copper slip used on the new pads when they were installed?

I believe the calipers are Bosch, so they probably supply the OEM pads too.p

I changed to Brembo pads twice and they always give me screeching sound. Now I recalled that I used Bendix for my rear brake and gave no screeching sound.

Thanks for the pointer and I shall consider Bendix for the next change. Is there a particular Bendix model that you go with?

Bendix supply a product called 'Bendix brake noise suppressant', it comes in a blue squeeze bottle, coat the back of the pads with it and no more squeals. It should be available through motor factors/pad suppliers.

Hylomar gasket compound is supposed to be good as a squeal damper too.
