can someone help me please
i lost my auxiliary belt driving up the motorway yesterday - managed to get home ok but now need to fit a new one!
BUT seeing as the belt isn't there - I haven't got a reference to how the new one should be fitted!
Can any one help with a routing diagram?
Thanks

Welcome to the forum Mr. Davies!

There's a pic in this thread: http://www.frenchcarforum.co.uk/forum/v ... 2&start=15 It's a C5 but the principal is the same, should be type B, ie 3 drives, PAS, Alt, AC comp (unless it's an LX without AC then it will be more like A).

Re: auxiliary belt diagram
Check carefully for any shards of the old belt, they are known to sometimes get under the timing belt cover and cause the timing belt to jump a tooth or two with potentially disastrous results to the engine...it might even be worth taking the timing belt cover off to do a visual inspection, depending on how difficult the access is on that car...

Re: auxiliary belt diagram
Depends entirely upon the last gorilla who tightened it. Most garages seem to have at least one tame gorilla solely for this job...And most believe this bolt should be done up almost to the point of stripping threads.Mandrake wrote:3000 ??? Or do you mean 300
Good thinking to check the crank pulley
Also check the tensioners as well and ensure they are running true to the belt and not at an angle.

Re: auxiliary belt diagram
3000 foot-lb is a typo Jim
Imagine how you would achieve that - 300 lb (50% more than the body weight of even the heaviest amongst us) at the end of a 10 foot long pole!

300 seems high but within the realms of possibility...

Re: auxiliary belt diagram
Thanks Steve for your time and reply,
I have had a look but not quite sure. I have the back of the belt on the tensioner smooth pulley, just not clear on where I go from there. I have searched the web to no avail .

Re: auxiliary belt diagram
Ok Steve,
I have figured it out , it was the second smooth idler pulley that confused me,
But got there in the end.
thanks for the tip,
Tony
