First are you testing with the suspension on high?
Second if you slap the top of the viewing dome does the fload bob down and back up? If so then you've put in more LHM than you need, which isn't a problem.

this is a constantly reocuring misconseption, which i think should be a sticky, excuse the punn
i have never seen/had one stuck and it is usualy down to an overfilled tank,
the only prob with this is it can make a mess when the suspension settles all the way down, and the citro blood seeps out of the top of the tank,
raise the car fully up and syphon some of the citro blood out till the float drops between the two red bands,
if your still not covinced you can lift the dome/float out by pulling the two wires off, then rotate the base of the dome about a 1/4 of a turn now lift it out,
now you will be able to see how free the float will move up and down in the dome,
also once you see how it works you will see it is very unlikely to get stuck,

I have to disagree with you boys on this, the indicator does on occasions stick at the top and no amount of tapping will get it to come down.
I've had a couple that did this even with the lhm drained, I fixed the last one by drilling a 1 mm hole through the plastic dome and poking it down with the drill bit then a dab of hard plastic adhesive over the hole.

It that a Jim or Malcolm fingers length?CitroJim wrote:Malcolm, I concur with your thoughts
Usually, when at more or less right level I find the LHM to be about a finger's length below the filler when on normal height...

Come on its human nature, we are inqusitive creatures. If anyone says DONT we just have to.
You know "dont touch that electric fence around the horse field".And whatever you do dont try having a wee over it .
I think most of us have tried the various liquids in cars at some point, I hate rolling a ciggy when I am working on the car, that taste of burning oil does nothing for the enjoyment of a ciggy.
More to the point why would the indicator stick ?.

I have I once thought it would be a good idea to syphon out an LHM reservoir to save removing it (this was in my early days of Xantia ownership) and I ended up with a mouthful....mongoose100 wrote: Yep, been there, done that. Never again

Les, reckon a disassembly of the assembly is in order to see what's happened. It's an unusual one, that's for sure...
