Aargh! CRS strikes again...

Post by addo »

Is it actually necessary to "index" the steering pinion valve?

I haven't good enough pictures of any bits, to see if it should matter or not. There were no match marks on it (I looked hard before reassembling the steering rack).

So - anyone care to comment?

Thanks, Adam.

Good; I was sort of thinking that.

Found an interesting comment on the "heavy steering when cold" phenomenon on a UK steering rebuilder's website. They reckon it's fine wear to the pinion valve's ring seal bores, and as hydraulic oil heats up the seal expands.

Bunged it in without a worry and there feels a marginal bias - however I am running mismatched front rubber, so this comment needs to be taken lightly.
