Effing BMW drivers
Spent a lovely evening out with Danielle and her parents, then on the way out of Luton, a BMW with just the NS headlight working decided that it couldn't wait to pass a parked car and doing about 50mph in a 30 zone took off Juliet's OS wing mirror.
With Danielle in the car, but the time I turned around the asshat had gotten to the roundabout we'd come from and shot off so I couldn't even get his reg.
Anyone got a spare MK2 OS wing mirror with silver back?

I had exactly the same happen to me first time I took out my Xantia, an idiot in a silver BMW misjudged the space in his hurry to overtake.
I got a mirror through Ebay but had to take an electric one as no manual ones came up. the door isn't wired for elecrtic mirrors so it's a matter of adjusting with the thumbs

Unfortunately it happened in Bedfordshire, and any of their coppers with half a brain transfer to Thames Valley or the Met (according to literature from Bedfordshire Police).
Last time I had the pleasure of dealing with them due to a car accident was when workmen smashed the wing of my Megane while I slept after a night shift.
They claimed an artic from Spain did it doing a 3 point turn in the estate while asking for directions to the M1 from Leighton Buzzard.
So I phoned the police and reported it, was told I'd get a visit from a PC to give a statement although I did offer to pop down the station.
Days passed and had no contact so I phoned them and they sent me an incident report sheet.
Filled it out, stating that I was in bed at the time of the incident and my car was stationary, parked outside my house.
Then was sent a letter stating that I had to take my licence, insurance and MoT (not valid as it was a new car) to the police station of my choice otherwise I'd be in trouble.
So headed off to a very confused policeman behind the desk who took down my details and said he'd inform them he'd seen them.
Then I started recieving theatening letters from the police stating that they would start proceedings against me as I hadn't taken my documents to the police as requested.
It took 5 phone calls and several weeks of letters to get them to stop.
Then they turned around and said because so much time had passed they wouldn't try and track down the driver of the lorry.
Makes the £200 a year we were being charged for the police "service" so worth it

^ A very similar story to mine when a milkman reversed into my Xantia at 3am, writing it off.
Was seen by my son, who knew the people involved - he used to work for them when he was at school - the investigating policewoman, unfortunately a friend of my eldest daughter, was totally inept.
They dragged it on for two years until I eventually wrote to the chief constable (also known to my son who was by now a 'special') and he was worse than the investigating officer.
As with you Xac they claimed that too much time had passed to secure a conviction.
The courts weren't much better - I sued him in the county court and won by default as he never turned up to the second hearing.
Never received a penny as the courts/bailiffs claimed to be unable to trace him, despite him being at the first hearing in response to their summons.
I'd torch his delivery van but would be doing him a favour.
I have noticed recently that most of the bad driving I see is executed by BMW drivers - is there a correlation here (not saying that all BMW drivers are rubbish, please note (my brother has one )).
Twice yesterday though drivers pulled out in front of me on the same roundabout within ten minutes of one another - both Renaults

Conversely Portsmouth police went all out when my sister's ex was knocked off his pushbike.
A car that witnessed it gave chase to the port where the culprit boarded a ferry for France.
The witness called the police who immediatedly contacted the ferry company to confirm the car was on board, contacted French police to be ready and wating, and two constables hot footed it to the faster sea cat to arrest the culprit when he rolled off the ferry.
Unfortunately in that case my sister's ex was a real drip and didn't press the matter despite having a broken arm and being unable to work.
To give you an example of what he was like, when they bought a house together they used some of the left over carpet from my parents' house to fit their bathroom. He used the old carpet as a template, but cut it back to back so it was a perfect fit, just upside down!
Anyway, thanks to Jim, Juliet has a working wing mirror again.

No worries Xac, very pleased to help and good to see you this morning...
Funny, I was laying under Phil's car at the time you arrived and Phil said
"Hey, there's a silver Xantia just turned up..."
Without even looking up I said "Ahh, that'll be Xac..."
Got Phil's blower working. That 'mod' worked a treat

On a similar note, a Megane from up the road came flying round a blind bend round, saw me travelling at a speed so that I could stop within twice the distance I could see to be clear. Then slammed on his brakes, luckily swerved into a space between two parked cars to miss a head on with my XM but unluckily, this particular space was being occupied by a cyclist, luckily he managed to stop about a foot behind him...
