306 sump plug

Unread post by froggy »

Hi, Iam unable to undo my wifes sump plug on her 306 . the square inner fitting is rounded and two of the edges on the hexagonal are rounded too ! Is it a case of trying the " Bahco " pliers .
cheers Terry.

Even if the outer hexagonal edges are a bit rounded, a good hexagon (as apposed to the more normal bi-hex) socket should still get sufficient purchase on it Terry...

Else Bahco but purchase will be a bit tricky on such a small 'nut' area...

Else that, get hold of a square that is a little bigger than the existing and drive it in. The watch-word here is "a little" and don't go too mad or the sump might crack.

Failing that, use a small cold chisel to raise an 'edge' on the hexagon and then using a good punch, drive the plug undone on the edge you've raised.
