So far this year I have replaced both bottom ball joints, by means of hub transplants, replaced 4 nearside wishbone bushes (3F failures and 1 precautionary rear), both droplinks and both outer trackrod ends.
I've now got to the stage where I'm geting severe vibration under braking at speed, but not at low speed from the nearside front.
I had a look at the disc yesterday, sure enough it was uneven, I marked it off with a black marker to show the proud side and removed the disc to check whether anything had got under the disc when the hubs were done.
I couldn't see anything, but when I was in the process of checking the disc, I noticed as the engine was turning over in 1st gear that the driveshaft was not rotating true and had a 2-3mm distortion on it.. it doesn't look bent.. So my questions to this knowlegeable forum are:
Is this normal for a driveshaft not under load?
What would cause the disc to warp?
And could these issues be the cause of the front wishbone bush failures?
Thanks,
Chris.
PS despite this I'm getting about 58mpg at an average speed of about 50 mph on country roads with a range of about 900 miles so the old lady isn't ready for the scrapheap yet
