ZX electric windows and sunroof

Unread post by PaulF »

I have a problem with the front electric windows and sunroof of my '92 ZX Aura. They either work or they don't.
I've checked the fuses and cleaned the earth wires, yet problem still remains. Are there any well-known common faults which I should be looking for?

I'm not aware of any common faults with the windows or roof, but I have a ZX TD and get this, sometimes the windows and sunroof will work without the ignition being switched on, only Citroen could make them like this, masters of schoolboy electrics.
Check if you have voltage up to the switches and at the fuses.

The sunroof and electric windows work on my volcane with the ignition off too but only if the couresty light is on. Brilliant idea if it was meant to be, if i leave the window open as i get out I can still do the windows up. Only problem on mine is the passengers side motor is very slow.

must try that on ours! Slow passenger window may be helped by a good application of silicon spray to seal at bottom of window and the guide channels. Bit messy and not recommended if you plan spraying it tomorrow (silicon will make the paint look like hammerite) but it will clean off quite easily and beats dismantling it.

Well the courtesy light doesn't do it for me I'm afraid.
