Xantia HDi issue

Unread post by Chris570 »

yesterday when starting the car from warmish (had been off for 2 hours) the car was idling very lumpily. The best way i can think of describing this is as if it was running on 3 and a half cylinders. I suspect injector problem as when warmed up (30 seconds of driving) all was well. this is what i get when i plug it up to the lexia when its stone cold. What do we think as to me injector 3 looks out (although maybe not far enough) there are no fault codes stored other than an intermittent EGR one.

I had a problem similar to this on my C5.

I ran some Comma Diesel Magic through to clean the injectors and it made a big difference.

Bloody hell Chris, either you have gone to Scotland and back today or she's really drinking it - I thought you said her tank was brim-full last evening?

:) cheeky

had done 60 miles since the fill up so i managed to just squeeze the 500ml in the tank (as opposed to the diesel which would take a barrel by now)

I usually put the Diesel Magic in when my fuel level is low, then it's more concentrated to give a more intense clean.

Some pour it directly into the fuel filter housing.

I'm not sure it will give such good performance if it's dilluted by a tank full of diesel :)

i would have thought putting it into a full tank will have it running through the system for longer

well after doing 300 miles yesterday i can confirm that the lumpiness isnt there (i'm still reserving judgement though till its done more miles)

there is still a very light knock at tick over sometimes though....

it was knocking the other day at tick over but a bit worse than it was yesterday...
