In the peddle box ...
bend down and feel how your spine is still present in your body 8-)

You are lucky you have a RHD car as then the brake stopligtht switch is located in the passenger footwell - connected to your pedal by an axle tube.
On mauals you will also have a switch on the clutch pedal - in the drivers footwell.

Commonly it is the brake stoplight switch messing up.
Accompanied by stopligths failure.

I had a nosey under the drivers side for the clutch and could not see any switches i also took the instruments out to see behind and after i moved a piece of foam all i could see is some welded iron work possibly for the pedals i had a look in the haynes manual and it says something about removing the wiper mech to remove the clutch pedal.

Replace the brake peddle switch and have a go.
No need to break your car down into bits if that clutch switch is non-existant on your C5.

Cruise control is an option so Haynes wont help you there.

Looks like the clutch switch is on the LHS of the pedal, at or about the height of the pivot.

As Anders says, brake pedal switch is in the passenger foot well.

ive got the same issue with my mk2 the clutch has gone so I have a gut feeling it is the clutch switch being as the pedal is almost on the floor.
