Would you not fall foul of the MOT if this is going to be included and it did not work properly? If it was fitted as an OE standard, then turning it off or removing it would leave the car subject to a failure.
Is it possible to fit a normal Schrader valve in the rim, in place of this new fangled piece of junk? As I am a bit of a Luddite, I've not seen one of these valves close up to see what has been done to the rim to enable fitment.
Sometimes this "advancing" technology is just a sop to sad people that want a new gismo on their car, irrespective of its true value.
I am still trying to understand why they phased out manifold driven windscreen wipers.

I think there was another thread about this very recently.
Thankfully this is not a problem earlier C5s seem to suffer with. Though it doesn't make me want tyre pressure monitors any more than I did

Not yet. My C5 went through with the MOT with the warning on the multi-function display showing.handyman wrote:Would you not fall foul of the MOT if this is going to be included and it did not work properly? I've since turned the option off with my Lexia so I think that might satisfy the future MOT.
If not, they can certainly be replaced with ordinary valves and providing the option is turned off there's every chance it'll pass the future MOT.
Apart from that these changes are rarely retrospective (I can only think of front seat belts in the sixties that were) so it'll only affect new cars, surely.
As I get older I think a lot about the hereafter - I go into a room and then wonder what I'm here after.
