if the engine management light comes on you could possibly take it into a garage and they should be able to plug into the computer and diagnose the problem.

Probably the best way to find out

Was the system bled of air properly after the new pump was fitted?

Why was the pump changed originally? Were the engine and radiator back flushed?

Are you losing any water? Is there any "mayonnaise" in the rocker cover when you remove the oil filler cap? There's a possibility that the head gasket or cylinder head itself might be faulty.

The pump was changed because the blades of the impeller were snapped off due to frozen water.
The i tried to spin the fan last night and the plastic one at the front would spin but the metal fan behind it would not, what would be the problem of this?

there is no mayonnaise substance under the rocker cover, i checked that because someone said that could be the problem and there is no loss of water either

Thermostat that won't open?
no idea what this is like on the Xsara, but would have though an easy and cheap item to change.

try running it up to temprature to see if the rad fan/s cut in at all,

also check if the top rad hose gets hot as this will tell you if the thermostat is openning,

Hi you could try running a direct supply to the fan to see if it works,if not it will need a new fan scrap yard if your that way inclined or a google search might throw up some results. If the fan works with a direct feed then it will be the temp sensor switch in the rad or pipework.

i think the temp sensor/fan switch will be fitted to the thermostat houseing,

the fault could also be the fan relays,

exactly which engine/model is this car,
