Xantia S1 one key fob - Frustrating time trying to sync!

Unread post by Rhothgar »

Hi

I have read numerous threads on this topic and a good guide off-site on the forum contributors personal websites.

I have tried to sync my fob but cannot get a response for the life of me.

When I press the button which is nearest the key. I understand this to be the lock function, the red led blinks once and goes out immediately. Not sure this is normal.

On this other forum members website and I cannot remember whose, it shows a picture of the clear led on the front of the key glowing white as white does under a fluorescent disco light. The purpley blue colour.

Mine does not do this?

Does anyone have any further ideas?

I am assuming that because this is NOT lighting that the sensor above the rear view mirror is not receiving any message.

Of course, if this clear LED is supposed to light then that is the problem - but...

what is the fix?

The clear LED at the front is IR and can't be seen without an aid.
In the form of a digital camera or cameraphone.

Observe the LED through the camera viewfinder while someone operates the buttons, or do it yourself using a mirror.

Don't use an SLR, it won't work unless it has a digital rather than an optical viewfinder.

I'll try that.

It showed as working on my mates RF / IR tester in his garage.

I also have an IR pen security marker and associated light but nothing shows up when I used that.

I'll try your rec.

Hi Steve.

Great tip.

it's clearly working. Light stays on for less than a second. I imagine this is normal behvaiour.

I have tried on numerous occasions over the last week to sync this by removing the circuit board and pointing clear LED at sensor above mirror whilst turning ignition key to 1st position.

Could this have anything to do with the fact that my immobiliser is disabled?

Not sure if immobiliser is unplugged or fuse removed?

You're confusing IR and UV.
A UV marker won't fluoresce under IR light from the keyfob.

Sorry, I can't say one way or the other about the immobiliser but it has been reported that the receivers can malfunction too. I don't know of a test for the receiver unfortunately.

The Roof reciver units CAN and DO stop "Learning" a Fob signal! Ive had this a few times!

You DO need a second key, to have the ignition ON... and you need to do it within 20 seconds of switching the ignition on too...

Infra Red light is all in fact NOT RED at all, its a white light... the little red led only tells you the batteries are fine and not flat.

Cheers Paul.

I only have one key for the car. So... if I get another one cut presumably a locksmiths will have the blank? Then I could bu a cheap fob off Ebay and use that to programme that fob?

I read in the posts that yo can programme two keys at the same time. Perhaps I misunderstood. Perhaps it did state you actually NEED two keys.

I just took my key apart, put the key bit in the ignition and held the circuit board up to the light thinking that would work.

That should work yes!

If you have checked the White light transmitting in a Digital Camera, and it IS sending the signal, chances are then, the reciver in the roof is NOT taking the signal in...

Get another from a scrap yard, and fit it and try again.

This does useually, 99.9 times fix the problem..

Thanks. Any idea where the permanent 12v originates from within the cabin?

Daft as it sounds, I had this problem and all I did was clean the dust out from inside the roof dome and...voila!...it worked and has continued to do so... :D
