Post by lexi »

What amount is road tax on the Xantia HDI? Are the later C5 2.00HDI the same?

Hi Lexi,

How are you?

The road tax on my girl friends Xantia HDi is £205 a year. That's for a W reg.

If you can find a Y reg they drop significantly but they are like rocking horse crap!

You thinking of replacing the V6?

David.

It's waaaaaaay to cold for playing!

I've got a Leon that we're just putting back together after changing the engine.

I've got a Xantia which needs an ABS sensor doing and the side airbag light correcting.

And an XM that needs it's Idle Control Valve cleaning.

I refuse point blank to do any of them when it's this cold though!

The 2001 Xantia HDi is one bracket above the C5 2.0HDi. I think the Xantia was £145 when the C5 was £110 so I suppose you could add £10 to both these figures.

BEST Bet for me is the Higher Tax on the Xantia, and the Better fuel consumption!! Rather then lower Tax and ungly'r looks...

Yes, 6 months rate is £72 on the Xantia, were as the C5 is £65 BOTH APPROX

And un fortunally, the ONLY xantias with cheaper tax are the rare Y reg ones, which most Ive seen so far are 1.8i 16v engine'd ones...

Ive a X reg Xantia HDi, and its still full rate.

There are Y reg HDi's about, but as david says VERY rare!

If registered after April 01, I believe an 2.0 Hdi is £125.00 per year, that's what my newly acquired 406 is anyway.

Xantia HDI hatch 154 g/km / £155 (generally, some seem to be 150 g/km!). Estates slightly higher at 156 g/km.

C5 HDi 90 Hatch 152g / £155
C5 HDi 110 Hatch 147g / £125
C5 HDi 90 Estate 155g / £155
C5 HDi 110 Estate 149g / £125

Our Picasso sneaks in under the 150g barrier so is only £125 - I suspect they've put in a longer final drive to get slightly better economy, at the expense of blunting the performance a bit. Or maybe that's the brick like aerodynamics!!

My Xantia was reg in the last week of Jan 2001, so only missed out on being Y by about 5 weeks....

Ah well, you see, if you get a Y Reg C5 HDi's, Yes same year as Last Xantias, they are cheaper to tax aswell...

So your 406 must be a later slightly cleaner 2.oi 8v lump...

Consider yourselves so LUCKY Road tax on an 01 Xantia or C5 here in Ireland is €620-00 annually. Still about half that if the C5 is year 2008 or newer. Since they started to tax on Co2 emissions then, & did'nt make it retrospective on older cars.

when I bought my 607 it was cheaper on tax to get an older one as the C02 on a 2.2HDI auto is quite high.

I also have to pay full rate for my ultra rare 1976 Peugeot 604 as apparently it's not 'historic'
