zx estate rear suspension

Post by tony1961 »

hi there, ive noticed in the last couple of days the rear suspension seemed stiff. today i noticed that the car rear was hard when driving, anyway i got home bounced on the tow bar there was no movement. does anyone know what the problem could be it seems to be on both sides. could it be the shockers both gone at same time!!.it would be a great help before i go under the car in freezing conditions

At a guess, there's a problem with one of the dampers and it's stuck. I would imagine that the ARB will make the other side difficult to move if one side is stuck.

It could be that snow/water hs got into the damper casings and frozen, if you can manage with it until the temperature rises a bit you will find out. Alternativly you could try blowing them with a heat gun or hairdryer.

hi i went under the car this morning looked at the dampers they seemed ok. i warmed them up any way with heat gun. also put penetrating oil onthe arms were the bearings are. now it has movement. idont think its 100%. yes the wheels are pointing in at the top just waiting to find a rear axle to refurbish and fit thanks tony.

Ah! If your wheels are leaning in likely all the grease has gone from your trailing arm bearings and they have probably filled up with water.
