C5 ( Mark 1 ) HDi 90 Aux Belt

Unread post by KP »

Does anyone have a guide or tech doc on how these should run and be tensioned as my dads has snapped clean off and while he has another belt to put on is not sure how it should route or tension.

Also do these run the AC compressor?

Thanks,
Will

Yes they do run the Air con compressor... Its basically the same setup as late Xantias..

Firstly release the eccentric roller, lower down, through the wheel arch, then the belt route as follows: OFF the TOP of the crank pully, UNDER the SPRING loaded upper tensioner, up over the PAS PUMP, then down to the ECCENTRIC, around the ECCENTRIC back towards the TOP of the ALTINATOR, then DOWN to the AIR CON pully and to the bottom of the crank...

You may need a 14mm spanner to lift the upper tensioner to get the belt in!

Once all in route, swivel the Eccentric tensioer with a square drive and so it takes up the slack and puts load on the spring tensioner... Tighten the eccentric (8mm ALLEN KEY)...

Cheers guys,

My dad managed to get it done last night.

Will find out when i next see him if he got the right belt for the AC as im sure he has previously said that the compressor wheel had no belt round it which would explain why the ac never worked...

If the belt has been off the compressor for some time then it still may not work as the refrigerant could have leaked away.
