Rubber cap on rear hc swollen [solved - was air inside]

Post by Xaccers »

At Finmere today, so thought while the lads were out in the woods spraying each other with white stuff (airsoft), I'd use the ramps and give Cassy's rear height control links a good lube.
I've noticed she seems to be riding a tiny bit low at the back, which may explain why she's always had a slightly firmer ride than other Xantias I've owned. I'm reticent to correct this though as she handles so well.
While checking all this I noticed that the rubber cap on the rear face of the hc is swollen and feels like it is full of fluid (one would presume lhm).

Is this normal? I'm sure when I've had a cover off before it was dry underneath.

I was under the back of mine a couple of days back whilst checking out my sinking problem. I happened to pop off the HC cap while I was under there and it was perfectly dry and clean underneath, in fact looked as good as new, so I would imagine you may have a bit of blow by in there.
It infuriates me to be wrong when I know I'm right

Yes, its rare but I had a leaky roll corrector on an Activa once. These are the same as a height corrector but has no damping and lies on its side...

I believe overhaul kits are available. Have a natter with Pleiades.

Replacing the seals is dead easy once you know the trick.

In any event, I have one you may have....
