Xantia 2.0 Hdi. Intermittent Stop and light on Temp Gauge

Post by jcdel »

I'm relying on you guys again. The stop sign and red panel light intermittently flash on and off.(Temp Gauge).I have noticed that this sometimes happens on bends and roundabouts etc.All water levels are OK etc. Thanks for any help.

Loose connection on the water level sensor I imagine.

With the temperature gauge light on, isn’t that our old mate the brown sensor ?
If the cooling fans are going at full speed when the lights flash, it’s usually caused by a loose brown sensor connector.

Confirmed... I also had this headache with a W 2000 Xantia HDi 110bhp..

STOP and the Red Coolant light... I swapped sensors, and level sender.. however, as already said in that thread it turned out to be one of the Fan relays located between the Fans, behind the cover under the bonnet...

I also connected the Lexia to find it reporting a "Short Curcuit in Slow speed Fans"

After pulling relays out cleaning contacts etc, and re connecting it all up, Fans worked both speeds and the Light stopped flashing.
