First if you haven't already, check Citroen's website for their free MoT offer and save yourself £50

Check tyre condition and depth (1.6mm)
Check for leaks and anything dripping
Check all lights are working
Check windscreen washer jets are clear and working, and wipers do their job

the Citroen`s offer is good but if it fails then you have to get them to repair it that will cost you more than the saving

No you don't.
You can repair it yourself onsite and have it retested for free, or take it away and bring it back and pay the full MoT price, or take it away, repair it and and find a different MoT centre (such as Mr Clutch) that's doing a deal so pay less than the full price.
For instance, in MK Mr Clutch are doing MoT's for £21.
If Cassy fails and I can't fix her onsite so have to take her away, then I'll be giving Mr Clutch my cash. Perrys will get nowt from me.

If its a diesel give it a good thrashing on the way to the test to blow all the soot out of the exhaust system, it should pass the emissions test OK then

Depends what needs to be done I would presume, not sure about their legal responsibilities.
As I said, there are plenty of other places which charge less than the full price for a MoT, so use the Citroen offer as a pre-test check and you still save money.

i would ask them how much the re/test is going to cost if you took it away to do any work it failed on,

if you take it elsswere it might fail on something diferent to the first time,

as 10 diferent test stations could give you a diferent failure,

The terms of the free offer are that if you take it away, you pay the full price for the re-test.
Being cynical, one would expect they'd be going through the car with a fine tooth comb to find failures, so if there are any, they'll find them.

My Xantia failed at the Citroen MOT for track rod ends. I had them replaced at my local garage and then MOT'd at the local MOT station. It failed with white front indicator bulbs. The MOT station wouldnt pass it without them being changed even though the previous failure sheet had no mention of indicator bulbs. To be honest the Citroen garage were fair, all be it expensive for the work they said was required!!

Howie

Re-tests are free where I take my car and the test is only £30.
