Will HP fit 2.1TD?

Unread post by MikeT »

I've been asked if this pump will fit a 2.1TD (S reg) which I don't know the answer to. Anyone know or do we need more info?

The pumps on the XM 2.1 have a 'V' belt pulley, the pully diameter is the only other critria.

Xantia 2.1's have the ribbed belt, what engine is the pump from, A/C etc? It can then be looked up on Laser/Citroen Service for compatibility.

The pump was taken from a 1.9TD MK1 Xantia with A/C yes Dickie. The pulley is 117mm.

I can't make head nor tail of service.citroen - it lists two 6+2 pumps; sinker and non-sinker and of each of those there appears to be several variants for both cars, dependant on engine, A/C and RP number.

If the pump looks the same and has the same diameter pulley, should be OK

I think I've narrowed it down to;

4007S7 (if it came from a sinker)
4007T5 = XUD9 w AirCon RP 06445-07620 / XUD9TE RP 06445-07620
4007T7 = XUD9TE RP 07621 onwards

I've been informed the 2.1TD requires a T7

Having just looked through some emails, I found out some more details about the donor..... REG P934 ECF REG 27 03 1997

Can anyone narrow down the selection above from this? Thanks.

I'm wondering what the differences are between the "T" variants. I am 90% sure mine is the T7 due to the age of the car but I need to be 100%.

Can anyone get the RP number off the registration?

Mike,

So far as I can recall, the 2.1TD pump is very similar to the 1.9TD as it's mounted in the same way and in the same position. Therefore it should swap but where you may come unstuck is with the threads oin the delivery unions.

I'm sure Martin @ Pleiades will be able to confirm one way or another.

Wrong !!!

Martin @ Pleiades does not know :oops:

The problem is that there are lots of differnt pumps, they are all the same basic pump (except V6) There are just some very suttle differences and looking at Citroens web pages you cant realy make much sence of it all.

The differences come as, Pulley size, distance from the edge of the pulley to the pump (this will make the belt run off if wrong) and on some pumps the pulley is put on back to front, whilst on others the pipework is not in line.

Down to basics and if the pump fits and the pulley is in line and the belt fits, then it will do the job as all of the pumps (except V6) are the same inside.

If I had the pump in front of me on a bench, then I could tell you what it would fit, but from a picture it is not possible to tell as the differences can only be a matter of a few mm.

Regards.
Martin.

So that's why there's so many variants, I'm sure Citroen have their reasons. Thanks for explaining the possible differences, Martin. Lesson learned.
