Well they're not all 68k milers - most are double this.
One was bought in with a duff engine primarily as a spares donor but
turned out to be far too nice to scrap so I bought another engine with
low miles from an Xm where yet another 'project' ran out of money and
enthusiasm on ebay!
Problem is now, after an attack (long story) on one of my other good'uns
(actually what I consider to be my best that wears the A6 TVA number) it
now looks like this engine will be needed in that again so there may well yet
be a nice Activa bodyshell with a rotten engine awaiting a swap with a 406
V6 or a TD even as it's sitting back of the Que in storage again - I had plans
too to fix it this holiday leave until other factors changed.
As I say, things will get shaken down soon and I'll be in a better position to
know where I stand with them all. If I'd sat and watched while they went
through with the Puggerisers getting their clutches on them I'd be very
angry - some recently have gone through ebay for no money and I fear for
their fate - that silver s1 in Gretna and the other Green s1 over in Norfolk
spring to mind and there's the s1 and s2 being offered for spares only on
ebay at the moment.
It has always been the same way with fabulous but massively undervalued
and misunderstood and even feared elderly Citroens. Only in recent years
have Cx Gti's and Xm's and further back Gs's been thrown away because
a set of new tyres or exhaust made the car uneconomic to maintain or
because they were simply perceived to be too old now and not the latest
reg letter such is the snobbery of probably 90% of drivers in the UK
- the remaining drive older Citroens!!
Because nobody else could be bothered I've even had two instances where
I became the new keeper of 2 Cx GTi Turbo2's for the cost of a nice bottle
of wine as the owners were just happy to see someone that understands
and loves older Citroens keep them rather than see them scrapped. I'd
wager if you really fancied one now they're not out there as many other
weren't saved from the scrapyard...
