2.0 Turbo Exhaust Manifold Plate Location?

Post by steelcityuk »

Hi All.

This is a duplicate of a question posted on the XM forum, I'm hoping for a quick answer hence the duplicate posting.

I hope you all don't mind?

Here's a question for all TCT fans.

On mine there was a stainless steel 'plate' that fitted between the cylinder head and the exhaust manifold. Now I assume that it fits after the gaskets - so it goes cylinder head then gasket then plate then manifold. And that it's arranged so it's 'edge' faces away from the engine. But I can't find it on the Citroen parts list or in the Haynes.

Are my assumptions correct? I ask because it shows signs of previous leakage.

Thanks.

In the end I had to go with a hunch that is part of the heatshield setup. And that the edge/flange points away from the engine.

Steve,

I cannot recall seeing this on a Xantia TCT.

I'm away at the mo but I'll have a gander in Laser when I get home and see what that says.

Mine does have a heat shield which i suspect is part of the exhaust manifold gasket.

Here's how it looks in position.

I assume the idea is to contain the heat from the turbo as much as possible and let the cooling system deal with it.
