Xantia HDi 90 ECU(?) problem

Post by lolingram »

My Xantia HDi 90 has been showing some odd symptoms of late such as the odd lack of response to the throttle, which then corrects and all is again 100%.

However, the other morning it started after several turns of the starter, and ran with a rough 500rpm idle, with NO response from the throttle pedal at all. Whilst investigating under the bonnet with the engine still running in 'rough' mode, the problem corrected itself, and now runs OK again.

Today, I carefully unplugged the ECU, checked the contacts (all OK), and reconnected. Still running OK.... clearly I am concerned that this might eventually lead to a breakdown. BTW, no odd spanner signs on the dash, nor any other messgas.

Anyone throw any light on this ? Dud ECU?

Will another be hard to come by at reasonable cost, or are they repairable?

Cheers.

May be a dirty or partly burned out throttle pot.
Or poor connections to the same.

Being intermittent I'd be inclined to get the ECU read, do you have access to such a facility, Lol?

Other than a main stealer, none I can think of. If the problem doesn't get too worse, I am getting to Blighty mid July to shoot at Bisley (AND try to buy an XM 2.1TD auto with Bosch Inj), so that may be a solution?
