c5 total loss of power

Post by mm1 »

have had months of trouble free driving, touch wood.last week the clutch went.got it done to the tune of 900euro. the morning after i got the car done,i went to take off and the car was as dead as could be.it cured itself after a few minutes.parked the car for a few hours and the same thing happened.it seems to happen if the car is parked for any period of time.its a c5 hdi 110.any ideas?

i dont kow what your fault is appart from maybe a bad conection ,

"i got the car done"

but it sounds like the car was not the only one done, as that price sounds very steep

i thought that the 900 that i was quoted was better than the 1200 that the main dealer was.the clutch kit was 180 and a dual flywheel that 420 and labour after that.have been back to the mechanic and he says its an air flow meter,is this an expensive part?

If he means the MAF then they are approximately £100.

You could try cleaning it with carburettor cleaner, it's easy enough*. Just don't touch it or drop it.

If it needs replacing be sure that a genuine Citroen component is used.

*I did mine last week. No improvement unfortunately

It wouldn't be as simple as the battery earth? Friend of mine had gearbox replaced on an old Peugot 405, and then had starting problems . Turned out they'd not done proper job of ensuring a good earth when refixing earth cable back on to the body.

Good luck whatever the problem - Martin
