Righto,
1.9TD Xantia. 94 vintage.
The hydraulic pump bracket came loose a while back and the belt fell off, so i put it back on, tightened everything up, job was a goodun' so to speak.
Started up the car today, belt fell off, thinking the same problem occured again i had a look, only to find the bracket on the sump holding the hydraulic pump on had sheared, leaving a hole in the sump and oil all over the floor.
So, new sump needed. Question is i can only find Xantias near me with no A/C, hence no mounting bracket? I've got a 94 Xantia retrofitted with A/C by a company name Diavia.
Is it possible to bypass A/C on these with a shorter belt?
I'd rather not scrap it for the sake of finding a new sump!
Cheers!
Mark

'Twas MikeT. Have a look in his blog. I think it's in there somewhere.KP wrote:I cant recall the exact poster but a picture and info has been detailed on this previously.
Jus the use of a NON AC belt is needed.
He bought a Xantia with the A/C pump already bypassed.

Thanks for the replies- that's really appreciated. Quick too!
I did find a thread, but the pictures have disappeared through time unfortunately.
I'll give that number a bell and keep searching on this forum.
Thanks for all your help once again.
EDIT: found mikeT's post with pic.
Got a quote of £40 from a breaker for a new sump. £5 for a belt.
It''s looking promising.

Righto,
Just a quick one for the search function in case anyone comes across it...
Empty oil.
To remove the sump, undo every bolt you can see holding the aircon compressor on. There are four in total, two in awkard places. This is to gain access to the simp bolts.
Undo all the M8 sump bolts, there are two 'hidden' inside the aircon compressor brackets.
There is a 'tab' on the right hand side accessibly from the top of the engine bay. Whack it with a pry bar and a hammer if stuck.
Job done.
Off to PCR of Lancing tomorrow- cheers citronut!

Aaaah!
Problems ahoy.
I picked up the sump from PCR, brackets look to be the same.
Put it on, but once the compressor/pump is fitted, the pulleys do not line up.
Possibilities now include the wrong sump, hence wrong bushes/adaptors for the aircon mounting.
Is there any way i can mix this up to work?
Can i possibly find any diagrams anywhere?
Cheers,
Mark
