Oh no ANOTHER blower problem!

Post by citroenxm »

Hi all...

Been reading closly about ALL blower faults and fixtures, but they havent cured a fault I have on a customers car..

A dead blower, it DOES work, tried it on another S2 with Air con, swapped the electronic long module that is attached to the side of the heater to the right of the blower, looked in to the "Burnt out" ignition syndrome, EVEN tried another ignition switch.. and I still cant get it to go... is there a relay hidden behind the dash somewere?? OH also, the air con switch DOES NOT work, no light etc etc on it..... So have I a new problem here or am I missing something?

Many thanks
PAul

Hi Paul

If its the same system as the XM there is a relay somewhere because it wont work unless the engine is running. This means that either there is a connection to the alternator exciter circuit or a voltage sensitive circuit that will only switch it on when the battery comes up to charging level, unless there is a voltage sensing system in the heater control unit. As usual the manuals don't help much. The CX manual showed the location of the relays - why couldn't they do it with the others?

I had trouble with my S2 - for some reason the swtiching voltage on the relay disappeared. The relay is a 35A one above the throttle pedal. I just piggy backed a new fused supply to the switch pin from the swtiched side of ignition wiring. Has worked (20k miles) since OK. Not sure if this is connected to the A/C not working or not - could perhaps be a dodgy earth around the steering column somewhere??
