im assuming by that last remark Mike you dont mean im a tight git

Hi timbo101
the scrappies(sorry car dismantlers :) ) round here are getting a bit low on good stock they seem to keep hold of them for only a few days and then crushed. tried Trents but had nothing and been to Southampton branch with similar results :(
i know theres another goodish one out of shaftsbury on the warminster road cant remember the name

may pay you to have a look at places like W+S recycling they deal mainly in scrap metal but sure ive heard they pay good money -more than the likes of Trents so may worth a call.
hopefully have a chat with boss tomorrow and get some numbers he dabbles in this and that, you know the sort, good as gold though :D :D

Hi Tim
Just a thought but have you looked on ebay not for the seats as an item but for Xantias being broken?? The main problem you will have is getting the right matched seats for the rest of the car.Best thing to do if you havent already is to go to the citroen service site used to be pr.net cant find link at present   and once your VIN is entered you can find a drop down list of exactly what was fitted to your car this includes the type of "velour" ie seat colour. a simple VIN check with a donor car will give you a pretty good chance of finding a match

Dont suppose yours is a white estate that i keep seeing just up the road from Wyatt Citroen on Blandford Road Upton??

Tim,

Do you have the Alcantara (suede) seats like my 2.1TD? My drivers seat is suffering badly :( Alcantara does not seem to wear well at all :(

I reckon the chances of finding a good 'un in a scrappy are practically nil and given all the cost and hassle of trying to find good ones, it just may be worth having a chat with a local coach trimming outfit and seeing how much they'd charge to repair/recover.

Either that or swap your seats for the much harder wearing Velour. bear in mind that Estate back seats are very different to hatch ones and are not interchangable.

Hi again,

Yes Jim mine are the dreaded alcantra grey suede seats which do not wear well at all and my drivers seat is a real mess.
My missus keeps telling me to get seat covers but I hate them with a passion plus they are a pain on the back seats every time you I want to put the back seats down which I do ever such a lot.
I must admit I have been looking for a xantia estate with donor seats and a pair of roof rails but i think I should give up on that idea as its too much a long shot.
Luckily there is a great upholstery repaitr place just round the corner so willget a quote and see what to do from there.
In answer to the other chap who asked if I am the white xantia in Upton, no mate not me sorry, mine is metalic redish colour (will put a pik on here soon) and I am in bournemouth.
Lastly sorry to keep asking stuff but does anyone know where the hell i can get a pair of roof bars / roof rack for the car. I have those funny longs rails embedded into the roof and when I looked on the internet they were over £100 quid which is not an option.
Thanks again chaps, speak to you soon....Tim

If you search for "Xantia roof" on ebay there are people selling them new for a little over £40. Make sure you get estate ones.

My BIL's Xantia is headed for the scrappers next Thursday and I would be happy to remove the seats for you, with some guidance....they are in rather good nice from what I can remember, the driver lumbar has faded a bit but not really bad, its the 'grey' colour.

Knowing what I know now, I'd try and hold out for a set of leather seats.

I've just replaced my old, badly worn Alcantara seats in my 2.1TD with a set of Series 2 Executive electric leathers. They are magical :D

They have literally transformed the car. The seats are beautifully comfy, much more supportive, look magnificent and are infinitly adjustable in an infinite number of ways!

If you do get hold of a set of electric leathers, do try to get the wiring loom that feeds them power. You'll also need the seat heater controls that mount in the centre console oddment tray/immobiliser keypad. get the oddment tray from the S2 donor and ditch the keypad, it's more use...

Wire in the loom as the first job. All you need to provide is an earth to a stud on the crossmember under the passemger seat and an ignition switched feed that will supply about 20A peak. I've not permanantly wired mine in yet and I'm just picking up a temporary feed from the cigar lighter. I shall do it properly soon and feed them via a relay and dash switch so I can turn them off if necessary to stop bored little hands having too much fun on the seat control panel

To do the wiring properly, the centre console needs to come out.

The electrics need to be done first as without it is impossible to make the seat traverse along its runners to enable access to the holes in the runners for the mounting bolts.

S2 seats will fit perfectly in an S1 car but it is advisable to use the S2 seat belts as they are very slightly different on the seat anchorage. Also, the S1 orange pretensioner plug will not fit the brown pretensioner socket on the S2 seats. Get the brown plug and about 6 inches of wiring from the S2 donor, chop of the orange plug on the S1 loom and carefully splice in the new wiring and plugs.

Also, use the S1 mounting pads as these are a little different to S2 items.

S2 seats have airbags (on the green plug). Just leave them disconnected.

EDIT: Estate rear seats are different to hatchback rears and they cannot be swapped over. S2 rear seats will fit an S1 car but again, S2 seats are a little different and it is essential to use the S2 lower seatblet buckles as the S2 seats do not have the cutouts in the bases for the buckles. S2 buckles are on longer lengths of webbing and clip up on the seat backs in retainers when not in use.

A bit of work but well worth it for the results :D

It's not just the covers that are rubbish on those seats, the frame on both my front seats has pushed through the padding and I think the driver's seat is broken too. It's like having the Escort back. I'd planned to transfer a S1 interior across but I've since found that the door trims won't fit. Consequently my Xantia is looking for a new home and I will never again consider an S2 Xantia.

That was what had happened to my drivers seat. As well as the covering going, all the padding had collapsed and made nasty creaking noises when you got in and out

The seat had become mighty uncomfortable on a journey. I'm glad to see the back of it.
