leaky primer bulb

Unread post by fangy »

Hi,
I'm was having trouble starting my Xantia, with 3 of the glow plugs recently replaced I suspected air in the fuel. When I loosened the fuel feed and squeezed the prime bulb, bubbly fuel came out. When I re-tightened the fuel line and squeezed the bulb, diesel came pouring out round the clamp on the bulb.
Could this be the problem? or can Xantias run ok with primer bulb leaking?
Cheers
Fangy.

It's certainly worth rectifying and could well be the cause.

Have a look at this thread
air can cause a great deal of problems in the fuel system :) :)

thunk places like b+q screwfix sell the priming bulbs same type for the central heating systems

Thanks for the replies.
Cant seem to find a proper Xantia bulb. Does anyone know if a marine bulb will do, and if so what diameter it should be, ie, small/medium 8mm, or large 10mm.
Many thanks,
Fangy

marine shops/fitters usually have these primer bulbs ready fitted with non return valve and a short length of fuel hose attached both ends. Cheap standard component in marine communities ...
