C3 Pluriel 04

Post by faffer »

Following a incident involving reversing over a rock. inspecting the damage reveals a broken bracket bolted to the chassis on the drivers side (UK).Comparing with the passenger side there is what looks like a large metal weight missing. Any information on what this is for? is it just on the Pluriel? etc.Any info appreciated Dave

I don't know the answer but you can download someone's workshop manual for the thing (In french) on here:

Mind, Pluriels aren't off road vehicles you know!!

Image

Does look like a balance weight is fitted to both sides although one on the
right of the floorpan does look a lot larger in the illustration off Citroen's
parts database. Hope this helps!

Andrew

BTW; The illustration got cropped at the bottom where the far right bottom
part is number 17 - the second balance weight!!

Thanks for that, it is a fair old manual and will take a bit of wading through. Dave

Thats more like it, thanks. Regarding this Citroen's parts database, is this something I can get access to? if not does it give the part no for the bracket that holds the weight to the chassis? Any info appreciated Dave

www.citroen-pr.net

All I did was register myself using my Graphic Design company address and
listed my local Citroen garage - there shouldn't really be a problem although
Cit HQ did 'kick me off' a few times early on! Mind locally I'm "well known"
as quite (OK a BIG) Citroen nutter by them - they've even sent people to me
after odd Cx parts and I have bought loads of stock from them in a their
redundant stock clearouts.

According to the listing there doesn't appear to be a bracket only a nut
(number 80) from the inside onto a stud at the top of the balance weight.

both sides are definitely different sizes, the bracket with the bolt holes comes together with the mass.

Just as I dreaded, I have since been back to the scene and retrieved the weight,it must be 3x times the size of the passenger side one. When the car is back here this afternoon I am going to see if the "brackets" are interchangeable, that way I may only have to buy the smaller weight...
I would like to just say thanks to all the replies and links..Dave

I'm purely guessing here, so follow me on this one  that for whatever
reason Citroen decided to fit these 'balance weights' (the suspension ISN'T
THAT soft surely  ) the primary difference in size/weight will be to
balance the slight offset of the spare wheel in the boot well?

I would imagine the fastenings will be symmetrical but that doesn't simply
mean you can turn one bracket around 180˚ - we are at the end of the day
talking about Citroen here!! If the design engineers can complicate things
further, you KNOW they will...

Mind, there have been a few Pluriels being scrapped on ebay
- worth having a look.

You are probably right about the brackets being unique and sided but on a Sunday afternoon its worth investigating. The trouble I find with breakers etc is they are seldom "local" and the thing weighs so much it would probably cost a fortune to have it delivered, nevertheless it is worth looking into. I am going to ring the local dealer tomorrow for a fright/price, if only for a comparison...Dave

You may find the web browser you're using isn't showing all of this site.
None of the browsers I have tried show ALL of the site running 100%
- the most useable one is Internet Explorer.

Anyhow, the site supports prices with the VAT and will give you exactly
what the dealer tomorrow will give you!! Once you know which part you
need if you select it, it is added to a baskets and estimates page link.

The parts and prices for a random left and right weight are:

00007251V0 FLOOR BALANCE WEIGHT 72.58 85.28
00007252S9 FLOOR BALANCE WEIGHT 112.89 132.65

Hi Dave, the code is the RP number - replacement parts - it's stencilled in
numbering somewhere on the car - well at least on a Xantia and Xm, I don't
know the Pluriel I'm afraid. On an Xm it's a code in the passenger front door
jamb, and the Xantia has it above the paint code on the driver's side engine
bay bulkhead near the strut top. There must be some numbers somewhere
on the car that are either before the crossover point or after. If you have a
good scan about something will show up - there's nothing in the handbook?

The RP number on the pluriel is located at the bottom of the sticker with the tyre pressures on it at the n/s door pillar.
If you input the full VIN into pr-net it should automatically select the right one for you.
