Coms 2000?

Post by RichardW »

My Dad reports problems with the indicators on his 2002 Xsara. He's already had the column stalks changed once, but it looks like it needs doing again.

Presumably the parts are dealer only, and dealer fit only, as it probably needs to go on the computer to code the new one in?

Or is there a bodge it and scarper fix?

Comm 2000 Unit

Post by ACTIVE8 »

Well Peugeot certainly had a problem with the Comm 2000 on their models. It would seem PSA in their infinite wisdom fitted the same unit to Citroen's. Not a smart move. When the Comm 2000 has a problem on a Peugeot, and they seem to fail all to regularly, it's normally a visit to the main dealer to sort it out.

Comm 2000

Post by ACTIVE8 »

I know it's a question of economics, and decisions made by accountants, and not engineers, but PSA should have developed a seperate set up, and worked out which was more reliable, as the reliability of the Comm 2000 is not very good.

Bean counters they are the curse of modern car reliability.

PSA Peugeot / Citroen have a new supplier for the COMM 2000 units so the quality problem is sorted out now.

Same story with the Sagem coil packs.

Also from the cars date of first registration the COMM 2000 unit has a 4 year warranty.

Your looking at 30 mins labour at a main dealer to change one, You should get away with a bill for less then £200 on most of them.

it only needs a dealer computer if the car has ESP as the steering wheel angle sensor will need calibrated.on models without ESP its a straightforward swap.

Heh heh my sentiments exactly Ross.. :D

It's strangely satisfying to read about all the modern troublesome bits that the ZX doesn't have... *tries not to look smug, but fails miserably* he he..

Better!

Even better - it was reg in Aug 02, so under 4 years old, and the unit was done about 2 years ago first time.

Thanks lads, I'll pass the info on.
